Tiger Mountain Lodge
Time to head out of the hills and into Pokhara for a day of recovery at the Tiger Mountain Lodge.
My last time with Bidur and Sujan.
The drive is about 1 hour, at the most. We drop Sujan off in Pokhara becuase he is heading into Kathmandu to be with his sister for the holiday.
Bidur rides along with me all the way to Tiger Mountain.
The lodge is set up on a hill overlooking the Pokhara Valley.
The main lodge is charming and rustic. They pride themselves on being environtmentally conscious and fitting in the natural environment.
Before going to my room they offer me tea, and what I discover is THE BEST Carrot Cake ever!
They take me to my room ... wowza.
This ain't no trekking lodge. 😄
I was so hoping for a massage to combat those oh-so-tight calves and quads. But darn it, no massage therapist is available since today is the final and biggest day of Tihar – Bhai Tika. The day to celebrate and honor brothers and sisters. Most stores are closed, etc.
I am not upset, just disappointed, but I am (mostly) glad people get to spend the day with their families. (I do go online and schedule a massage for the day I get back to the US). Imagine trying to schedule a massage on Thanksgiving. That's what it's like.
Instead I enjoy the afternoon strolling the grounds, relaxing, eating a big Nepali lunch and napping ...
The grounds are so pleasant. I kind of wish I had two days here. They offer guided walks; birdwatching, etc.

What a perfect place to end your trip!
ReplyDeleteIt was perfect. I still have 2 days left in Kathmandu. But this was the perfect place to unwind from trekking. Next up - a bit more sightseeing and then pottery-making and Momo-making :)
